Chivalry

I'll be completely honesty with you all. I've dated a lot. I've had about a dozen legitimate boyfriends and let's just not even count the amount of guys I have casually dated.

These guys range from med school residents to ex-college baseball players to good ol' country boys. And while all of the relationships have been very different, there has been one attribute that seems to be consistent.

The most chivalrous a guy will be is at the beginning of your relationship.

I realize that statement sounds a bit morbid, but I am not saying it's a bad thing. In fact, it makes sense because that is when he is trying to impress you most. I also think it is important for girls to take notice and acknowledge these actions because it does set a precedent for the way he will treat you in the future.

I preach this lesson because of one great guy that I dated. His chivalry never died partially because I always tried my best to let him know how much I appreciated it.

While it is sweet when a guy opens doors, takes you out to dinner, shows you off to friends, etc, the real meaning behind chivalry is how special he makes you feel.

This week is two years since our first date and even when we randomly chat or facebook or run into each other when I'm in Gainesville, he still always makes me feel really special.

I guess that point that I am trying to make is that chivalry isn't dead--it's just different.

And that is OK.

OOTD + Giveaway Feature!

My OOTD from this Saturday was inspired by The Cotton Necklace from Lucy & Me Jewelry--yes, the same one that I am giving away!

If you've been living under a rock and forgot about the giveaway, you need to click HERE.

While most of you are enjoying the chilly December days, down here in Florida, we are still in the 80s with no sign of chill! Saturday involved quite a bit of running around and finishing decorating the tree, so comfort was key!!

As you can see, I opted for a chambray shirt, ponte pants, and boots. Jewelry was simple and my Cotton necklace gave the outfit the stylish pop it needed! I had just slept on curly hair the night before so I opted for the headband to keep it from getting too crazy over the course of the day!

Even Presley wanted to get in on the photoshoot!

Make sure to enter the giveaway for The Cotton Necklace! It ends at midnight on 12/7!!

Have you entered the giveaway yet? How would you pair The Cotton Necklace if you won?
The best outfit idea will get additional entries into the contest!
(Polyvores are also welcomed!)

Monogram Ring

A few weeks ago, I was SO excited when I found out I had won a giveaway from Miss Southern Prep!!

My prize was an awesome monogrammed ring from Monograms, Etc.

Sallie from Monograms, Etc was ready to get going with the process as soon as she got my name. Little did I know how hard it was going to be to pick out exactly what I wanted!

My first instinct was to with orange and blue—after all, I am a GATOR! But after looking at the dozens of colors her shop offered, I decided to go with a turquoise background and white monogram. I thought it would be a great pop of color that wouldn't be too obnoxious with any outfit I own. Plus, turquoise has always been my favorite color!

I received the ring earlier this week and was elated to wear it the next day! As MSP had pointed out, the ring is adjustable, which allowed me to wear it on my ring finger one day, and on my pointer next! Mama even pointed out that it would be the perfect “knot” in one of my long pearl strands—I like the way she thinks!

Go check out Miss Southern Prep and Monograms, Etc!  I’d highly recommend this ring and with holidays around the corner, it’d be a fabulous personalized gift for anyone!

Today’s (Monogram) Pickins:
1.       A monogram stamp would be perfect for card and gift tag making!
2.       The monogrammed chairs in this office would add a sophisticated personal touch!
3.       What’s hotter than a man in seersucker? A monogram to go with!
4.       This clever home owner added a wall monogram toa sunshade! How perfect!
5.       This would be a perfect before-bed Christmas Eve gift!
