Style Influence: Icons of the 1970s

Maybe it was all those years of listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival instead of Brittney Spears. Or maybe it was just the naturally long locks I've always donned. Either way, I truly believe I was meant to be around in the 1970s.

1970s fashion trends have (and probably always will) influence my personal style. I'm always drawn to jewelry with organic stones, like turquoise, or flowy, peasant tops and jeans - there is something simple and natural that I've always adored about this look.

Seriously, I'd die to raid any of these ladies' wardrobes!

Perfect Desk, Please!

I have serious nesting tenancies when it comes to my working environment. I love having a very personalized cube at work and an inspirational desk at home!

Since I've been at my current position for well over a year now, it seems like the right time to do a little updating and freshen up my daily view. I've been getting some inspiration from across the web and just had to share some of my favorites with you!

But my favorite desk of all is this one, which belongs to a Lilly Pulitzer print designer! Seriously, please come and update my office ASAP!

How have you personalized your desk at work or at home?

Favorite 2014 Nail Trends: Pinks and Nudes

Few things make a woman feel more glamorous than a fresh mani!

I've been letting my nails go au-natural for a few weeks to let them heal and can't wait to paint them up for this first time this year! BUT, the first mani of 2014 needs to be something special, right?

Nudes and Ballet pinks have been some of the best looks on the red carpet this year. Here are a few great ways to take these classic shades up a level:

Have you tried any of these looks recently? Tell me about your favorite nail trends for 2014!

Guest Blogger: Letters from a Mermaid {Favorite Things}

Hi friends! I am so excited to introduce you all to Rachael today! We definitely share a love for all things nautical, especially mermaids. I know you all will just love what she has in store.

Hey, ladies!
I am so excited to meet all of you today over at Cotton's beautiful little Southern blog!
While I am not a native Southerner (Ohio is my homeland), I like most people have some
South in my blood!

I blog over at Letters from a Mermaid
Yes, you can tell from my name that I love all this nautical, especially mermaids, starfish,
seahorses and pearls.  Today I cannot wait to share with ya'll a few of my favorite things!

1.  My Lilly P. Carded ID wristlet in Twill
Honestly adorable.
Fits my phone, credit cards, change, and even has a space for my lipgloss!

2. Coach Rollerball in Poppy
I preach about this little guy all the time, but it is such a delicacy!
Such a sweet scent and so easy to tote around.
I believe every lady needs her favorite scent in a rollerball.

3. My Cashmere Houndstooth Scarf
This is so very versatile.
Looks fabulous with my peacoat, a LBD, as a shawl or just because.
This was a recent investment for me and I don't regret it.
I liked it better than Lilly P. Murfees!

4.  Another one of my latest investments: Ralph Lauren black leather monogrammed
gloves with whipstiching.

With lots of days in the brutal cold at a school on the lakeshore, this was the best thing I could
ever do for my tiny hands.  These will last a lifetime. I tend to lose 2 to 3 pairs of
gloves a year...I may have to be extra careful now!

I invested in these a little over a year ago, and they are perfect for snow or pairing with a perfect outfit.

6. Succulents

I live in an apartment and am constantly coming and going. Plants tend to get neglected
and I have killed many a "lucky bamboo."
Succulents tend to last a week or even two without being watered.
Not to mention they look adorable and are amazing in the low light of a bedroom or bathroom.

I can't wait to meet you and learn some of your favorite things!
Stop over and say hello.
Meeting other bloggers is my favorite part about blogging!
Cheers,
Rachael

Anatomy of a FITBIT Stack

It's official...I am obsessed with my fitbit.

I constantly find myself looks for little ways to add extra steps to each day, which is important since I have a "desk job" and don't often move nearly as much as I should!

My only complain about the fitbit flex is that bands are pretty noticeable. Because of this, I have started to add my fitbit to my daily bracelet stacks rather than wearing it as a stand alone on the other wrist. However, I might be switching that up once Tory Burch releases her set of bands for the flex!

Because the fitbit is bulky, it has definitely taken some trial and error in find the right stack. Behold, I bring you my formula or for the perfect fitbit stack!
