#NationalMeanGirlsDay and Bullies.

On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was. "It's October 3rd."

I have to say, I LOVE all of the Mean Girls quotes blowing up my twitter and facebook already. October 3rd, National Mean Girls Day, is the perfect excuse to quote Regina, Gretchen, Karen, Cady, and all your other favorite characters from the defining movie of our generation--even my dad loves Mean Girls!

Mean Girls Confession: During my last fall semester in the sorority I won the Gretchen Weiner’s Superlative, “That’s Why Her Hair is So Big…” and while I thought it was pretty funny, still slightly embarrassing to admit to.

While we all love to laugh at the iconic movie quotes, like the time Gretchen got diarrhea at Barnes & Nobles or going to Taco Bell to do something fun, I can really appreciate what Tina Fey was getting at when she wrote this screen play. When we think about “mean girls” in our lives, we usually think about the times that we were victimized…not the times we victimized others.

With October being National Bully Prevention Month, I wanted to take this chance to post a recording of anchor Jennifer Livingston’s reply to an email she received from an anonymous email.

Whether you agree or disagree with what she said, it still doesn’t give us a right to put someone down that way. I think Jennifer’s idea was right on point—don’t you think the gap-toothed bitch from Mean Girls already knew she was gap-toothed?! Chances are, that was something she hated about herself and now, you’ve just reminded her of it. Why are we defining her self-worth by the thing she likes least about herself?

Taco Bell for thought, kittens.

  6. I love this post! Of course mean girls is one of my favorite movies, but also love your statement about bullying. People need to learn to be a little bit nicer and help make the world a better place :)

  7. As hilarious as Mean Girls is, I also really like the anti-bullying message of the film. I think everyone just needs to be a little more kind to one another. Also, I love those Kate Spade holiday cards! Too cute.
