The thing(s) you're most afraid of

The thing(s) you're most afraid of

My greatest fear is waking up one day to a life of loneliness. this was something i had never feared until high school volunteering. I met the sweetest last while volunteering at the nursing home and when I would visit, we would talk about all the fun she had as a young girl and her summers spent at her family's lake house in Alabama.

She would light up when she spoke about her life experiences. I had always though of her as a happy woman. One day, I finally asked her about her husband and if she ever had kids.

"He left me when we were young because we couldn't have kids. My soul died the day he left."

I don't think anything has ever broken my heart more than hearing her say that.

As independent and strong willed as I can be, my greatest fear is to be left alone.

  1. You hit it right on the head for me. I also am fearful of loneliness. I am fearful of the loss of those close to me and if I am ever left alone forever.

  2. Oh my gosh, that is one of the saddest things I've ever heard! Nursing homes break my heart--it's so sad to see all of the people who were left alone. But loneliness is one of my biggest fears, too. I don't know what I'd do if my husband died way before me or my kids lived far away. It's too sad to think about!

  3. I feel this way too. If I ever lost my fiancé who is my bestfriend I might as well go too. Or even one of my parents....glad I found your blog!
